Considering the lack of good economy and performance diesel cars in today’s market, we’re psyched to hear Audi’s plans of releasing a new hybrid car, the Audi A6, which should be hitting the US come 2014. The eco-friendly whip is said to don the same powertrain as the Q5, but will feature a turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-liter TFSI engine and come bundled with a 33kW electric motor. With such power under the hood, we’re looking at 204 bhp and an extra 44 bhp added to power output.

Acceleration is clocked at 0-60 mph in 7.3 seconds with a top speed at 148 mph. Plus you’ll maintain 146 g/km of CO2 emissions and generate 44.1 mpg of fuel economy. Another huge driving facet is the eight-speed auto transmission system that offers three modes: EV mode for electric motor enthusiasts, S Mode for petroleum engine users, and D mode, which caters to both engines.

The estimated MSRP ranges at an est. $65,000: a moderately high price for any Green vehicle, especially when considering most other eco-models deliver similar performance. Guess we’ll see if Audi changes its price plans going into 2014.
