The long-awaited Tekken 7 was announced yesterday at this year’s Evolution Championship series by series producer Katsuhiro Harada. However, Harada revealed that he had not intended to announce the sequel, but another unspecified fighting game. After Tekken 7’s existence was leaked earlier this weekend, however, Harada was forced to scramble to put together an ad-hoc trailer for the game in his hotel room.
The trailer shown at EVO 2014 did not show any gameplay footage—which is hardly surprising, given the admitted haste with which the trailer was made—but does show a woman planning to destroy Heihachi. The trailer also revealed that the game will run on the Unreal Engine 4 developed by Epic Games, and that more info will be revealed at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
Interestingly, near the end of the trailer, the words “The Final Battle” appear on the screen, presumably indicating that this will be the final game in the Tekken series.
