The B-Dasher, the iconic kart introduced in Mario Kart DS—where it was featured on the cover art—will be included in the first DLC pack for the Wii U’s Mario Kart 8. Nintendo showed off the B Dasher in all its next-gen graphical glory via photo posted on the company’s Twitter account.
Though Nintendo has not announced a release date for the pack, the DLC will give players the option of playing as Cat Peach, Tanooki Mario, and most excitingly, Link from The Legend of Zelda series. Continuing the bundle’s crossover theme, the other vehicle confirmed to be included in the bundle is a Mario Kart version of the Blue Falcon, Captain Falcon’s trusty speeder in the F-Zero games.
The B Dasher in Mario Kart DS was a kart with entirely standard features; as Mario’s standard car, it featured as the game’s “vanilla” racer. When the kart reappeared in Mario Kart 7, it was changed to be the fastest medium-size vehicle in the game, and was, appropriately, renamed the Sprinter. It is unknown which of the two racing styles the B Dasher in Mario Kart 8 will follow.
