The Purge: Anarchy takes the idea behind the first film and develops it further—set once again in a future where, for twelve hours, Americans partake in crime during a time period where murder is legal for the sake of self-purging. This time out, the sequel moves in a bolder direction. Frank Grillo (Captain America: Winter Soldier) stars as a man who sets out for revenge, only to find he is unequipped for what is really taking place. This film goes south quickly when we realize the rich are kidnapping individuals off of the street for the sheer enjoyment of placing them into these manhunts. Sorta of like The Hunger Games, but maybe more sickening? The Purge: Anarchy opens july 18.
