This certainly came out of nowhere. Venture Beat reports that Berlin-based tech blog Villiage Ventures got its hands on a few emails from Groupon employees ”alleging abusive working conditions, breech of contract and a boss, Eastern European CEO Daniel Glasner,” best describing him as a “slavedriver.” The emails were translated in German, with the first reading as follows:
I must remain anonymous otherwise I will face serious issues. Here I send you something that has bothered us for days, weeks, months, on a regular daily basis at Groupon. Strong pressure, breaches of contractually agreed bonuses with subsequent penalties. Now our titles are supposed to be changed – we will be degraded – if we do not acquire our Dreamlist partners.
Glasner had released a statement denying all accusations. VB goes on to break down some of company’s other internal problems involving class action lawsuits and unfair working conditions. Read more here.
