Rather than launch a phablet-sized version of its flagship handset this time around, reports have HTC releasing two new One M8 variants dubbed the “Plus” and “Advance.”
Sources familiar with HTC’s gameplan claim the former will be constructed from metal like the standard M8 mode, with the exception it will feature a water resistance certification that remains unknown for the moment. The “Plus” could also ditch the Duo Camera setup in exchange for a single 13MP camera with optical image stabilization, while boasting a “2K display with highest pixel count to date” in the form of 2560 x 1440 resolution.” Other notable hardware includes Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB of RAM.
The “Advance” should be promoting the same specs as well. However, this version looks to carry plastic housing and will be targeted at Asian markets. Additional colors are said to be available with both devices too. Many believe HTC might host a press event to officially launch the smartphones.
