Director Bryan Singer has been a busy puppy since taking back his beloved X-Men film franchise and spearheading the highly anticipated Days of Future Past. While managing the biggest cast ever featured in any Marvel movie, he’s also worked extremely hard to right the wrongs of the previous films. During a Q&A at the The Fantasia International Film Festival, Singer spilled some details on the upcoming sequel that most diehard X-Men fans might want to hear.

First off, DOFP will not be shot in 3D (Phew!). Singer also discussed how certain characters like the Scarlet Witch will not appear in the film, while informing those in attendance that William Stryker will be back. He’d go on to discuss the movie mostly taking place in 1973, with future segments being shown 10 years after X3. Lastly, Singer talked about his displeasure of Cyclops being killed off in the third film and wishing he could bring him back. On the plus side, he was thrilled to hear about Ellen Page’s return to the series.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is still set for release on May 23, 2014.
