Mobile Gaming Gets No Love

Like it or not, mobile games are a serious competitor for console and traditional handheld machines. Yet looking at this year’s E3 you wouldn’t know mobile gaming existed. Aside from publishing giant Gameloft’s booth, the platform’s presence was not in any way commensurate to the billions of dollars raked in by the industry. It’s really quite surprising that none of the Big Three have made any significant moves to capitalize on the mobile gaming market yet. Especially after the recent revelation that Nintendo is working on connecting smart devices with their 3DS systems, it feels like a missed opportunity that they did not announce any plans to integrate mobile devices or move into mobile gaming at this year’s expo.
