The Galaxy series welcomes two new additions to its ever growing line-up of media devices: the Samsung Galaxy Player and Tab 8.9. Adding to its ongoing battle with Apple, Samsung’s new media player is set to do battle as the iPod’s biggest competition: boasting a number of Android-friendly facets that include the latest Gingerbread OS, a beautiful WVGA 5- or 4-inch touchscreen, wi-fi capability, dual-cameras, Android Market accessibility, and support for numerous multimedia formats. The Galaxy Player is available for pre-order right now and hits retailers on October 16 for $2999 (4-inch) and $269 (5-inch).
On the other side, we have the latest rendition of the Galaxy Tab, which is a smaller version of the 10.1-inch tablet released a few months back. The 8.9 version comes laced with all of the 10.1’s features, except it sports a smaller screen and supports the new Readers Hub: a service that offers access to over 2.2 million books, 2,000 newspapers, and 2,300 magazines. Two versions will be released on October 2nd: the 32GB ($569) and 16GB ($469). Here are some shots of yesterday’s Samsung Experience event and new Galaxy devices. Looks like Android got the holiday season on lock.
