Expected Performance
Reports have the P1 featuring “superior downforce,” which means increased handling and the ability to drive at high and low speeds. McLaren says its car will have the highest level of downforce of any road car made in the world, while claiming it’ll be five times greater than the MP4-12C. The P1 is also said to have optimized braking and handling, enhancing the vehicle’s driving experience immensely.
According to Werner Budding, we shouldn’t expect McLaren’s speedster to break over 249mph (400km/h). The Dutch journalist tweeted about it during his interview with test driver Chris Goodwin: “Discussed the P1 with McLaren test driver Chris Goodwin. He tests the P1 tomorrow at Nardo. I asked him ‘Will it reach 400km/h?” He looked thoughtful.” While nothing has been confirmed as of yet, rumors still have the vehicle hitting hypercar-like speeds. What that’ll be, your guess is as good as ours.
