What’s in the Name?
The P1 doesn’t carry the mystique moniker of let’s say the MP4-12C Spider or have a dope codename like “Project Alpha.” But the P1 name does have actually meaning to it. For novice autophiles, the term “P1” is a label used for first place in Grand Prix racing. McLaren defines it as “Project 1,” which was code used for the manufacturer’s first original supercar: the F1. See the resemblance?
