Andy Serkis’ Most Human-Like Performance Yet
It’s still shocking to hear Serkis was snubbed from a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his work in Rise of the Planet of the Apes, especially after the critics had nothing but glowing things to say about his portrayal of Caesar. With his character maturing, the thespian doesn’t only have to place his efforts in imitating the expressions and movements of an ape, but mask himself behind the emotional facial features of the animal, which will be brought to life via CGI. Caesar’s emotional appeal will certainly challenge Serkis abilities this time around with so much riding on the fate of his species and his willingness to build a relationship with mankind, undergoing an emotional journey we’ve never experienced to this degree from a motion-captured performance.
