What is “the cloud?” Nobody knows for sure. But we do know is that it’s important. 2013 marked a mass information exodus, away from tangible hard drives, and onto the so-called untouchable cloud. Recently, however, people have been growing concern with the idea of their private data being in the hands of corporate companies like Amazon and Google. They’ve begun looking into personal cloud services, through start-ups and external devices. This trend may be in response to recent threats to personal privacy, by legal actions and independent hackers, or through general corporate suspicion. Whatever the case, the public will do whatever it takes to keep information out of the wrong hands.
