The cable industry has experienced major legal dilemmas in the past few years. Audiences are illegally downloading content, but that’s old news. Recently, legal battles have appeared on the other end, namely concerning cable providers Comcast and Time Warner. The two companies attempted a merger in early May, which was brought to court regarding anti-trust laws. The consolidation of the cable sphere sparked national uproar. The proposed merger raises a number of concerns, touching on basic rights to competition and the Open Internet Rules.
