5. The Floor is Jelly
Platform: PC
Price: $10
The title of this game is actually a bit of a misnomer, as it’s not just the floor that is made of jelly: everything in this virtual world, including the protagonist bounce and wobble as if made of Jell-O. And the experience is not only visually stunning, but engrossing in gameplay. It’s very minimalistic in many regards—there’s no storyline or tutorial, and the playable character is little more than a blob with legs—but The Floor is Jelly more than makes up for what it lacks in narrative through engaging aesthetics and creative level design. The puzzles make good use of the possibilities of a jelly universe, and the boards are filled with hidden areas that encourage exploration rather than speed running. The beautiful soundtrack by Disasterpiece is just icing on the cake.
