The concept behind the multiplayer online battle arena game is simple, yet powerful: what if different gods from across the various pantheons got together to duke it out? Smite offers a huge divine cast to choose from, with 54 playable gods from the Chinese, Greek, Egyptian, Roman, Mayan, Norse, and Hindu mythologies. Ironically, however, despite its epic character roster, the PC game forces you to focus much more personally on the individual character by changing the perspective from the standard MOBA overhead shot to a view directly behind your character. This may seem like a small change, but it drastically shifts the game’s focus. Whereas in other MOBAs, such as League of Legends, the overhead perspective allows you to gaze across a large area of the map. In Smite, you can only see what your god sees, limiting focus to the avatar rather than to the wider map.
