Reports from DigiTimes say that Amazon plans on releasing an 8.9-inch version of its Kindle Fire tablet “by the end of the second quarter of 2012” to compete with other vendors pushing bigger and similar displays such as LG and Samsung. Seeing how the 7-inch launch model has become a huge hit amongst consumers thus far, it’s somewhat surprising to see the online retailer pulling the trigger on a bigger model this quick, especially after monitoring Samsung’s progression with its Galaxy Tab display offerings. Foxconn is already being rumored to start production on the 8.9-inch Kindle Fire. The big question: Will it stay within the $200 price range or be marked at a higher cost?
