In the past year, thousands of tech platforms were stripped of their security by the pervasive, destructive Heartbleed virus. The bug threatened countless servers, and worse, individuals suffered major theft. Google hopes to combat future security breaches with their new Devices and Activity dashboard.
This new tool will allow Google users to view every device that is accessing their account at any given time, along with those used within the past 28 days. Unrecognized devices will be labeled ‘NEW;’ If suspicious activity is detected, users can easily take steps to identify and mediate the situation.
Hopefully, this tool will prevent future bugs like Heartbleed to wreak havoc on our servers. At the very least, with smart phones, wearables, tablets and laptops, the dashboard will help users keep track of their gear.
