After the announcement that Bennedict Cumberbatch will be taking on the role of Doctor Strange, many are wondering what the next role will be for McConaughey, who was being considered for the role. In a recent interview with IGN Movies, he explained his opinion about the possibility of stepping outside of his typical realm of roles, and expressed a potential interest in a comic book film.
McConaughey expressed the following:
“It’s not an area that I’m saying I wouldn’t like to go. I don’t know, it would have to be a script and a character that I find interesting and one that I say I can have a personal experience with. I’m not thinking about a genre–I would really like to do this, or I wouldn’t want to do that. Something finds me at the right time, turns me on, and if I can grab hold of it, see it from the inside, I can get a feeing that, ‘Oh, I’ve got a way I can do this that can be original”.
Perhaps there will be a role for him in Marvel’s lineup after their big announcement last week about potential lineups over the next few years.
