Lucasfilm and Touchstone Pictures have announced a release date for their animated feature Strange Music, which will hit theaters on January 23rd, 2015. The film will be directed by Gary Rydstrom, and was written by Rydstrom, Irene Mecchi, and David Berenbaum. The animated film is said to be inspired by Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer’s Night Dream’, and will feature the mystical likes of goblins, elves, fairies and imps who are influenced by a powerful potion.

This announcement is of particular interest because just last week Strange Music was said to be a subtitle for a Frozen sequel, and now it is its own project coming out very soon. A cast including Evan Rachel Wood, Kristin Chenoweth, Maya Rudolph, and Alan Cumming will voice the characters. Lucasfilm Animation Singapore and ILM, whose previous work includes the 2011 animation Rango are teaming up one more to take on the animation of the film.
