Mel Brooks achieved incredible success with Young Frankenstein. That pretty much sums the category in terms triumphs. Eddie Murphy failed to do anything remotely funny with vampires in Vampire in Brooklyn. Johnny Depp and Tim Burton couldn’t get it done with the Dark Shadows remake. Needless to say, the gothic horror genre is dying for a good rib. Those two films alone could use a good reimagining from the Wayans clan. Just sayin.
