Big Trouble in Little china The Rock

Considering his colossal box office numbers over the years, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson looks to be the new “it” guy of action. We have seen quite a bit of him with Furious 7 and the new massive earthquake film, San Andreas. And we will continue to see more with upcoming films like Shazam, Alpha Squad, and the animated film Moana all due out in the coming seasons.

But his most promising role could come from a potential remake, one which he is being courted to star in. Word is the actor could potentially take on the role Kurt Russell made famous in the ’80s role–as Jack Burton in the cult classic Big Trouble in Little China. Screenrant has provided details that Johnson himself alongside Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia apparently pitched the idea to 20th Century Fox. X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz will provide the screenplay.

The challenge remains: Who can direct the film with almost the same amount of charm and combinations of horror, comedy, fantasy, and most importantly, martial arts that John Carpenter was able to showcase?
