Channing Tatum Wants to Give Gambit Creole Accent

As X-Men fans, we’re all coming to terms with Fox casting Channing Tatum as Gambit. It’s practically set in stone and we’re stuck with the Magic Mike performer. But as we’ve said constantly, things could be a whole lot worse. While it’s still unknown whether the actor will receive his own big-screen adventure or fall in line for the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, Tatum is committed to playing the character moving forward.

In showing how serious he is about portraying the infamous mutant, he spoke with Latino-Review’s Dariany Santana while doing press for 22 Jump Street, suggesting his version will be so authentic he would perform a Creole patois “Jedi mind trick,” which would result in subtitles. Yea, ummm, don’t think the audience or Fox is looking for that.

Sorry dude. Just stick to perfecting the mannerisms and performing the stunts. Let’s see how this play out, as Apocalypse is set to hit theaters in 2016.
