Where the Hell Was Capcom…
Like Square Enix, Capcom was present at E3, but apparently decided to keep all the huge announcements regarding it major franchises under wraps. Their biggest reveal came in the form of a new DLC pack for Dead Rising 3, and while it does look awesome, we expected a bit more excitement from the studio that produces Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, and Mega Man. Unfortunately, Capcom’s practical non-presence at the conference is indicative of the company’s wider financial problems. Its console games have been struggling for years, with seeming sure-fire successes like DmC and Resident Evil 6 falling far short of expected sales. Hard to blame them for not showing us new installments of great franchises when those same properties just aren’t making money. Hopefully its fortunes will have picked up by this time next year, and we can see a return to form for Capcom at E3 2015.
