Nintendo Teases Mother 3, Cruelly Denies It
Easily the best parts of the Nintendo Digital Event were the short Robot Chicken-style sketches interspersed throughout the game trailers. In the stop-motion intro to the presser, a stereotypically nerdy fan harasses Reggie Fils-Aime about Mother 3, prompting the Nintendo President to ingest a fire flower and launch a fireball at the whiner. It was a funny nod at the fact that fans have been clamoring to have the much-beloved RPG imported for years despite Nintendo never giving any sign it had any intention of doing so. In a later sketch, the same fan annoys Reggie about a new Star Fox title and gets blasted again. However, at the end of its show, a new Star Fox for the Wii U was indeed revealed. People began to hope that, since one of the fictional fan’s requests had been answered, that a Mother 3 announcement would be imminent as well. Unfortunately, there has been no word of any American release for the game, and the real Reggie Fils-Aime jokingly dismissed the suggestion when Kotaku attempted to breach the subject with him. Low blow, Nintendo. Low blow.
