Let’s get the obvious out of the way: the Suicide Squad does not consist of superheroes. They are a gang of extremely dangerous villains who do dirty work for the U.S. government to commute their sentence–either they fall in line or its decapitation by an explosive node surgically implanted at the back of the neck. At least that is what is known according to the DC Comics mythology and they are in line to be the next chapter of DC’s Cinematic Universe once the lights go up on Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. The film, which will be directed by David Ayer, is slated to begin production in Toronto by February 2015 and they are in final talks to add to their cast, which includes Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jesse Eisenberg is rumored to reprise his upcoming role as Lex Luthor.

Jai Courtney, Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie, and Jared Leto are all in the final stages of negotiations for roles. Robbie will be playing Harley Quinn, while Leto is in line to breathe new life into The Joker and Courtney is negotiating to play Deadshot, the leader of the group.

There is also speculation that Will Smith might be attached to the film as well, thus Suicide Squad will feature a high-caliber cast to work with Ayer. Suicide Squad will blast into theaters on August 5, 2016.
