So with the introduction of Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, every diehard DC Comics fanboy is yearning to find out if ‘Gotham’s reckoning’ will break Batman’s back in similar fashion to the Knightfall comic story arc. Well, Bleeding Cool made confirmation of it back in late 2011, which was then picked up by every geek-heavy outlet on the Net. The question remains: How will it be executed on film?
By now you’ve already heard rumblings of one (or two) characters featured in the previous films returning for TDKR, with actor Liam Neeson affirming his flashback role as Ra’s al Ghul. But the other name being thrown in the mix, and which makes complete sense when you think about, is the Scarecrow. Actor Cillian Murphy has apparently been spotted on set and could have a much bigger role in the film than expected.
Besides having ties to the League of Shadows, both Bane and Scarecrow might have something else that binds them closer. Scarecrow’s fear toxin. Rumor has it Bane gets his hands on the terror-inducing venom and uses it on the Caped Crusader, leading to the character’s massive on-screen bulk up and back-breaking finish. Now before you start spreading spoilers, remember, we’re just reporting on hearsay.
