Variety reports writer and director Gary Ross (Pleasantville, Dave) has been tapped to rewrite the current Spider-Man 4 script. Gary makes the third writer that Sony Pictures has hired to scribe an exciting treatment for the latest Spidey film. The pressure’s on to fix the calamities of Spider-Man 3, and seeing how two writers have failed to bring the goods, the franchise looks like it might be running out of web fluid. Production is still set for early next year with a 2011 summer release scheduled.
