Rumors paint Sony as in development of three new smartphones, the Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Ultra, and it is expected to see the Z5 hit shelves this fall. As a proper flagship device it will have the hardware and features to match, but will it turn the tides on Sony’s smartphone line?
Given the lack of excitement the Z4 and Z3+ generated, the Z5 needs to deliver to improve Sony’s global positioning. Rumored to contain a Snapdragon 820 processor and 4 GB of RAM, with a 4500 mAh battery, the horsepower seems to be pointing them in the right direction. With a speculated fingerprint scanner, 21 MP rear camera with support for HDR and 4k video recording, Sony is preparing to demand attention.
The September delivery date is curious, as this is when we are expecting to see both the new line of iPhones and Samsung Note devices. Granted Sony has yet to confirm anything regarding the Xperia Z5, but look for a reinvigorated lineup of choices this fall.
