When it comes to ushering the Android smartwatch movement, Samsung plays trailblazer. But its lack of designs and products have yet to catch on with consumers, as we’ve all focused on our attention on more cutting-edge products such as the LG G Watch R and Moto X—primarily for their circular form factors. In an attempt to bank on the trend, a report from SamMobile indicates the mobile manufacturer will introduce a round smartwatch at MWC 2015.
The upcoming device carries the model number SM-R720 and is codenamed Orbis. Word is it will operate on the Tizen OS and not Android Wear. Not exactly what Galaxy smartphone owners want to hear. However, the company has ensured in the past that its Tizen-powered smartwatches would be compatible with Android devices. More details to come as they leak.
