When Stallone announced the newest installment on The Expendables was not going to be rated-R, action fans lost their shizzz, with good reason at that. Many across the web are still wondering why The Expendables 3 has been given an MPAA PG-13 rating. Sources claim the film just managed to pass with a PG-13 rating, and the crew was told to make further cuts after receiving an R-rating the first time around, for the purpose of reaching a wider audience worldwide.
Seeing as the Expendables team is bringing in younger members this time around, it makes sense to reach out at younger moviegoers. Another perk: it is likely that fans of the series will see an unrated version of the film once it hits Blu-ray in stores. At the moment, the film has a rating description of “violence including intense sustained gun battles and fight scenes, and for language”.
The Expendables 3 is set for release on August 15th.
