With the calamity that was X-Men Origins and the lackluster conclusion of the X-Men trilogy in The Last Stand, Director Bryan Singer’s return to the movie franchise that made him seems like a reunion of epic proportions. Abandoning ship after X2, Singer went on to tackle the unwelcomed Superman Returns project and the latest Tom Cruise flop Valkyrie. After a recent interview with Total Film, Singer expressed interest in returning to the X-Men franchise, “I’m eternally intertwined with X-Men now. What takes an audience four hours to watch — the first two movies — took six years of my life. So, to not be part of it…It’s a shame.”
He talked about possibly directing the Magneto prequel, but discussed his concerns as well:
“The only thing that concerns me about Magneto is that if the prequel were to follow the track I used in X-Men, which is Magneto’s history in the concentration camp, then I’ve lived in that work,” said Singer. “I just might need to take a little break before I do something like that.”
Stop ya bloodclot crying already, get back into the director’s chair and save your career. Remember now, your not J.J. Abrams.
