The 2014 Geneva Motor Show helped usher in the gorgeous Maserati Alfieri, leaving most sports car fanatics anticipating its official market release. Well, the Italian automaker’s just confirmed plans to send its stunner into production with a coupe version scheduled for a 2016 release and a corvette model in line for 2017.
Where as the concept was based on the GranTurismo, the Alfieri will be based on an adapted version of the platform, which will underpin the Ghibli and Quattroporte. The car will be powered by a 404-hp 3.0-liter turbocharged V6, where as range-topping models will be offered with AWD in 444 and 513 hp state of tune. Maserati has also gone on to announce future plans for some of its other selections: including an al-new V8-powered Granturismo due out in 2018, as well as a Levante SUV launch in 2015 and expanding both the Ghibli and Quatrroporte lineups with more engine variants by 2018.
The five-year plans should help increase Maserati unit sales by nearly 4:1 come 2018. Lord only knows how gorgeous the Maserati Alfieri Convertible is looking on paper.
