The #SonyHack emails have given us insight to numerous developments from the film studio, the most interesting being the fate of the Spider-Man franchise. Original reports claimed Marvel was looking to work out a deal with Sony about featuring Spider-Man in the third Captain America. Looks like Sony has recently been sorting out a deal with Marvel to include the web slinger in the feature, however, Marvel may want him to make appearances in the upcoming Avengers film. Val Broeksmit came across an email between Andrew Gumpert (President of Worldwide Business Affairs and Operations for Columbia Pictures) and Amy Pascal (Sony Entertainment Chairman). The details of the cameo were laid out.
Iron Man would be recruiting Spiderman and giving him a suit. Of course he would not only meet Captain America, but the Black Widow as well. Gumpert detailed plans of Spider-man’s next big move, a solo film, which would be a continuation of the Civil War plot. Also, Spiderman would “exist in a world where that story has happened” and “superheroes are now divided into two groups.” Furthermore, the next film would have Peter Parker in high school again living with Aunt May.
But just we you think you’ll see the last of Spiderman, you may see him again in the Avengers: Infinity war films scheduled for release May 4, 2018, and May 3, 2019. Before he can make his grand appearance in the Avengers, he must have a second stand-alone film that would be release in 2019.
