According to a recent report by Deadline, producers Oliver Stone and Moritz are seeking out Joseph Gordon-Levitt to portray American CIA-leaker Edward Snowden in their newest film. Snowden is certainly a polarizing figure, not just in the USA, but internationally as well; there have been talks of other movie producing teams putting together a film following the recent life of Snowden, but Stone’s will be the first to reach the screen.
Filming is set to begin this December in Munich, although Stone and Moritz are still working to gain rights to Snowden’s novel Time of The Octopus. The pair are still working for the film rights with Snowden’s lawyer Anatoly Kucherena, but have secured the rights to Luke Harding’s (journalist for The Guardian) “The Snowden Files” to help their production efforts.
Gordon-Levitt has yet to confirm the role, but he recently wrapped The Walk with Robert Zemeckis, and is currently working on Xmas with Seth Rogen.
