The first official look at Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four has officially been released by 20th Century Fox, and not for nothing, it looks far better than the what previous reports suggested. Hearsay of production issues led many to believe the Marvel film was in jeopardy of becoming a major flop, though the recent teaser indicates it might be far from one. Though keep in mind this is just a taste of what the entire film could turn out to be.
In regards to the trailer delays, X-Men: First Class director Simon Kinberg discussed why such decisions were made:
“What we’re doing is quite different, and we want people to get a sense of it. There is a mystery, and the slow immersion into that is part of the experience of what will ultimately be the movie. We wanted it to feel different and represent what’s unique about the film. It has a little more restraint, maybe, than some other trailers these days.”
Kingberg also stated reason for the keeping details on the film so secretive was due to the studio’s awareness of public scrutiny and didn’t want to have anything half-finished leaking in advance:
“We wanted the visual effects to be as complete as possible. We know this movie is going to have a little more scrutiny than most, and we wanted to make sure the visuals represented what Josh really pictured for the film. Creating a fully CGI Thing is no easy task.”
